Turns out terrifying-clown, botched-surgery deathmasks are surprising difficult to capture.

This Is Joan Rivers, sketched in Sketchbook Pro for this month's E-Caricatures challenge.

She creeps me out.

Rosannabannabingbong

The theme of this month's contest at E-Caricatures is Pulp Fiction. I chose to draw Rosanna Arquette, simply because I think she has a great face for caricature and I don't recall ever having seen one of her before. Now, I've never seen Pulp Fiction (Please don't say, "WHAT?! You've never seen Pulp Fiction?!" That has long since become very tired.), but I'm guessing Rosanna plays some kind of weird character.

Incidentally, a couple of the reference photos I used showed her having an eyebrow piercing and no lip piercing, while others had it the other way around. I don't know if there's a reason for that, since I've never seen the movie (don't say it!), but I decided to just draw both.

These are the fascinating stories caricaturists tell.

Just in case anyone evr looks here anymore...

I've been working on this one for some time, in little bits and pieces during short breaks from working. Finally finished it today. Let me know what you think.

Done in Flash and Sketchbook Pro.

The Fightin' Gallaghers!

Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, sketched in pencil between customers at the waterfront today:

See how HE likes it!

My caricature sketch of "Weird Al" Yankovic, for the July caricature contest at ecaricatures.proboards.com. I realized too late that I had drawn his glasses crooked. By "too late" I mean, "after I had already not cared enough to fix it."

Adele.... Yeah, I have no joke title here. Just Adele.

Look, I know very little about her, despite not being able to turn on a TV, radio or computer or open a newspaper or magazine without hearing/ seeing her name. I just know that I'm not a fan, and that she's got a good face for caricature.

So.... here it is. It's Adele.

Unnamed celebrities for unnamed project

These are a bunch of caricatures I drew in Flash for an Android app I recently worked on, which I've mentioned on this not-blog before, but which I've now been asked not to mention in association with these caricatures, because apparently one of the levels of said app, for which many of these were drawn, has not actually been released yet.

I really enjoyed doing this. I had to simplify my usual style somewhat, since these appear very small on the Android screen. The best thing about it was that most of the people I was asked to draw were people I've never drawn before. Or at least, not to my satisfaction. And admittedly, there are a few I'm still not completely happy with (why can I not get Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie quite right?!)

I guess you might call this getting published!

A few apps I worked on (which is what I do for a living these days) are now available for Android units! Check out "Brightwood Adventures", "Monster Park" and the newest one, "Slot Play". "Slot Play" is a variation, I gather, on slot machines (I don't actually know the deatils, as I don't actually own an actual Android machine myself). I'm especially eager for people to check this one out because I did all the designs and animations on four of the levels, including a Hollywood themed one and a music themed one that are all caricatures of famous stars/ singers. I also did the caveman and nightclub levels, so check those out too!

Look at him, renning all over the place!

I really don't like that I'm posting, like, a caricature a month. How am I nop finding time for more than that?

Anyway, here's Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in the fantastic movie, The Avengers! Seriously, have you seen this movie? It's just awesome!

I'm thinking I'm gonna do a whole group shot, all in this 70s comic book kinda style. So... you know... there's something for you to get excited about.

This is for E-Caricatures' May contest, by the way. We had an Avengers theme. I picked Jeremy just because I felt like the poor guy is getting less attention from the film than anyone else in it. This should make him feel better.

A Caricawoozle

This is Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, just a quick, rough sketch for this month's E-Caricatures contest. I really wanted to do a whole body in his own drawing style, but this was all I ended up having time for.

Brosnan... Remington Brosnan.

Our theme for the E-Caricatures contest this month is James Bond. We were supposed to choose any actor who's played James Bond and do a caricature of him. I went with Pierce Brosnan, I guess because he was Bond when I first started taking an interest in Bond films. He may not be my favourite 007 (3rd, if I had to rank them all, although, in fairness, I've never seen Lazenby's Bond), but Goldeneye is still, in my opinion, one of the best of the films.

I also did this one, in an attempt to push the exaggerations further, but I think I may have lost some of the likeness in doing so:

FINALLY, I exact my revenge for all the suffering and misery his tyranny has brought to me!

Here's my caricature sketch of Mahatma Gandhi, for this month's E-Caricatures contest.

Kind of a niche market, but still... I'm published.

A couple of teachers at Oakland Christian School, with the help of a bunch of their students, all big LOST fans, have written a few books analyzing how various aspects of episodes of LOST relate to Christian principles. They're meant as helps/ workbooks/ discussion starters in Christian studies, for LOST fans. Each volume focuses on a different season of the show. LOST Lessons 3, focusing, obviously, on season 3, has just been published. The reason I mention it here is that my caricatures of the LOST cast are used as some of the book's illustrations. So... that's cool and stuff.

Three posts in one day? Don't expect 2012 to be like this all the time.

My son told me after school today that, for art class, their teacher showed them the artwork of a bunch of different famous artists, and gave them the assignment to try to copy the style of one of them. The artist the majority of his classmates decided to try to copy? Yeah. Don Pinsent.

World's most distinguished comb-over.

Here's another contest entry I did up pretty quickly today. It's Sir Richard Attenborough, for Wittygraphy.com.

I know Charlie Brown has never aged a day since the the moment Charles Schulz created him and all, but if he ever did age-- like, a lot-- this is what I imagine he'd look like.

J.K. Jonah K. Jameson.

Yeah, hopefully, I'll have more caricatures to show for my time in 2012. I mean, I'm not gonna go using the word "resolution" or anything, but.... here's hoping.

For now, here's J.K. Simmons, of whom I've been a fan ever since his occasional role on Law & Order. This is for Facebook's weekly caricature challenge, Caricaturama Showdown 3000.
