big "d", little "d", what begins with "d"?

one of the few things i don't like about about sketchbook pro is that, while you can create very realistic pencil-tip lines, there's no way to simulate using the side of a pencil lead for shading (at least, not that i've discovered. if anyone knows differently, please do explain it to me). hence, i am not really pleased with the shading on this one, but wasn't really able to take the time to use the airbrush tool as i usually do.

anyway, here's matt damon.

"c" is for really hot!

why is it that brooke shields's big ol' thick ol' eyebrows make her unattractive to me, yet on jennifer connelly, i find they add to her allure?

anyway, the "c" female has taken me a while to get posted. first, i had a hard time settling on one i wanted to draw. i thought of several, and had some suggested to me, but none of them really excited me. then i thought of taking a shot at jennifer connelly, and it just seemed right. then, i ahd a really hard time getting a drawring of her i liked. i restarted many times, usually completely trashing my previous attempt and starting over from scratch, seeing no redeeming qualities in my sketch to work with. then when i finally got a decent likeness, i wasn't satisfied with the level of exaggeration, and it seemed that every time i tried to push it more, i started losing likeness. when i finally had a sketch i liked, i felt like it needed a quick colouring job. so that was yet more time i had to put into it.

anyway! you don't care. so now i give you the lovely and talented ms. jennifer connelly:
